Hello future townsperson! Thank you for considering Show Town as the home for your exhibition, installation, performance, screening, conceptual project, meeting, social experiment...you get the idea. We are excited for you to share in this space that itself is an experiment. This project will continue to morph and change and, thanks to you, we will figure out how to create a third-space where art and creativity are at the center.

As an applicant, you should be aware there are five unique buildings within Icebox Project Space that compromise Show Town. They have roughly the same square footage. These buildings are available to rent in two and three day increments. These buildings, while all unique in their layout and vibe, all will have projectors, speakers, power and walls onto which you can hang your work. They all have the same rental rate.
Additionally, there will be a plaza and mini-amphitheater. This is where the magic happens. This is the place for audiences, friends, and Show Townies to hang out, drink coffee, watch a movie or performance and more. You can submit an idea to activate this space in the submission form below! While we expect impromptu activities to pop up in the duration of Show Town, submitting an application will let us support your idea and promote your event to the public.

In the spirit of being a third space, Show Town will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays 6-9pm and Saturday and Sundays 12-9pm. As you can imagine, every week (and maybe every three days) Show Town will become a brand new space. Visitors are encouraged to come back again and again and again.
Please keep in mind:
Each week will bring new exhibitions and surprises. As a citizen of Show Town, you will be sharing the space with many other creators, curators and friends. For that reason, we ask that you submit a proposal that has a communal spirit and are open to a cross contamination of sounds, aesthetics, ideas and audiences. Sound good?
FAQs
What are the rental rates for the Show Town buildings?
Two days (Tuesday + Wednesday): $120
Three days (Friday, Saturday + Sunday): $180
Five days (Tue, Wed, Fri, Sat + Sun): $300
I can't afford the rental rate! Can I still apply?
Absolutely! And there's three parts to this answer: 1) We encourage all submitters to work with a team of people who can help split the cost of the rental (and having more help with install/deinstall is a good idea too). 2) There are some work exchange options available (gallery sitting, wall painting, install help etc.). To the best of our capacity, we will try to make your proposal work. 3) If you can't afford the rental rate, please contact us (iceboxprojects(at)gmail) with the email subject "Show Town Assistance" after submitting your application. We will follow up with more information.
When will I get notified if my proposal is accepted?
We will be notifying applicants in early/mid-September.
What is the selection process?
We are looking to showcase a range of proposals from a diversity of artists, curators, performers and organizers. If you have questions or concerns about your proposal, please contact us via email (iceboxprojects(at)gmail) with the subject "Show Town Question." We will also reach out if we have further questions about your project's logistics!
How long do I have to install/deinstall?
Install times are as follows: Tuesday 12-6pm and Friday 12-6pm. Deinstall will take place Thursday 12-4pm and Monday 12-4pm. If you have any trouble working within these time windows, we can discuss alternatives once your application has been accepted.
Can I paint the walls?
You can do whatever you need to make the space your own, as long as you are able to reset the space to it's initial state by the end of de-install.
I need special equipment to complete my proposal. What do you have available?
You can check out Television.Farm to see our A/V equipment options. These will be available to rent for the duration of your project.
If I host a performance/screening/one-off event, do I still need to pay the rental fee?
Nope, however due to scheduling limitations, we will be more selective when reviewing submissions for events and programming. We encourage you to consider working with us during LIGHT & SOUND (winter 2025-2026) if your event involves dance music, live bands and/or audiences of over 30 people. These types of events aren't ideal for Show Town due to the space and sound constraints but will be awesome when we build out a big stage, light and sound system!
